Retirement Plan Gift

"I don't believe you will find another organization that provides higher quality behavioral health care services from birth to death anywhere in the country," notes Lilia "Mimi" G. Nash, emerita member of The Providence Center's Board of Trustees. Mimi was appointed to the Board when The Providence Center was founded in 1968.  At the time of her retirement in 2002, she was the only remaining original member.  In order to help the organization that has captured her time, talents and interest for more than 40 years, Mimi has named The Providence Center as the beneficiary of an annuity.  "I hope my donation will help to ensure that growth and progress will continue long into the future," states Mimi. 

The annuity will provide income to Mimi until her death, at which time the principle will be donated to The Providence Center.  "When my husband died, I wondered about what was ahead for my children after my death. I thought, 'Why not decide now where I want my memorials, so that my children don't have to make those decisions."  She found the process very simple and was glad she planned ahead. "I think that people don't realize how easy it can be.  I always thought you would have to go through this person and that person and use lawyers, etc.  I discovered you don't have to do any of that—just make a decision, complete a form, and that's it."

Charitable Trust Gift

"I just love the The Providence Center!" exclaims Nancy Chudacoff, vice chair of The Providence Center's Board of Trustees and Board member since 1993. "I am passionate about the organization's mission to support people with serious mental illness, emotional disorders and addictions."

Nancy would like to see The Providence Center's mental health services expanded to give more Rhode Islanders access to the high-quality behavioral health care provided by The Providence Center's staff.  "We give top-notch services and have a wonderful, caring, and very skilled staff," praises Nancy.

Nancy, an attorney with expertise in trust planning, estate planning, and estate administration, recognizes that funding for mental health and substance abuse services is a continuing struggle.  To help meet this challenge, upon the death of Nancy and her husband, Howard Chudacoff, a charitable trust will be established to benefit The Providence Center.  Through their generous gift, they will continue to support The Providence Center well beyond their lifetimes.  "We have nieces and nephews that are included in our estate plan, but we feel that it is also important to give back to the community."
